Christians Against Poverty is a national debt counselling charity working through a network of centres based in local churches. In Leicester one of those partnerships is with All Nations Church Leicester.

CAP offers hope and a solution to anyone in debt through its unique and in-depth service.

CAP aims to show God’s love in action by providing sustainable poverty relief through debt counselling, advice, and practical help. CAP’s unique hands-on approach empowers people to help themselves out of poverty and be released from the fear, oppression and worry generated by overwhelming debts. We are providing sustainable poverty relief as our service teaches clients vital budgeting skills that will last a lifetime.

The charity operates through a growing network of UK churches, all opened in partnership with a local church. CAP began in 1996 when John Kirkby, armed with a £10 donation, started to help people in his local community who were trapped in debt.

At All Nations Church Leicester the centre is managed by Shirley Rollins.

We run CAP Money Courses at different points throughout the year. See our Calendar and Events page for when these are running.

CAP in Leicester

We launched Christian Against Poverty (CAP) here at All Nations Centre in 2009 becoming the 100th centre. We are amazed at God’s grace and his opportunities that our church has had to reach the desperate situations that clients meet.

“Now that I am no longer in debt I can sleep, I can eat and I’m not depressed any more. I’m able to just live my life.”
- Leicester CAP client

CAP has now been operating as a charity since 1996 and offers a face to face, comprehensive solution to anyone in our community who is experiencing financial difficulty regardless of background or religion. CAP sets up a debt management plan for each person. By doing this, the local church offers love and support which makes a difference to each home that we visit and brings a positive change to people’s futures.

The work of CAP is a 21st Century solution to helping the poor and honouring God by seeing his will outworked in our community, CAP debt centres helped 26167 people in 2012 and saw 1600 families become debt free, that’s 6 every working day!
