REFLECTIONS: Kingdom Advancement

We will play a key part in a mighty move of God in this nation and beyond. The enemy aims to distract us, shut us down and take our eyes off Jesus. We are to rise up as mighty warriors and take back territory for God.  There are many different roles and functions in an army but every person comes together in a common purpose. This is an opportune moment, it is time to advance, to move ever forward and refuse to allow every day distractions to take away our focus on God. We are not to allow a slowness to come upon us, not to sit in the trenches but to go on and God will oil the path before us.

You are to come into victory now, the enemy is wounded, crushed and in retreat. Do not let him say things about you which are untrue, stand up to him and stand up for what is right and just.

What does kingdom advancement look like? We partner with the Holy Spirit, we catch his heart, listen to him and do what he asks us to do.

You were created to be connected to God. You need to realise what you are carrying and the authority you have in him. You carry the presence of God and it is the spirit of the living God which raised Jesus from the dead who lives inside of you. “And if the spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his spirit, who lives in you”. (Romans 8:11)

It is time to push open new doors. What is God asking you to step into? It may well be something that is outside of your comfort zone, this was the case for Jesus too, “Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant.. he humbled himself and became obedient to death – even death on a cross” (Philippians 2: 5-8)  Will you say “yes” to what God is asking you to step into? Obedience is key and he is worth it.

Isaiah 42:13 is a battle cry for us, “The Lord will march out like a mighty man, like a warrior he will stir up his zeal; with a shout he will raise the battle cry and will triumph over his enemies.”  There is a passion within us needing to be released for the world around us.  It looks different for each person. What is your passion? What is it that makes you come alive on the inside?  God’s DNA is rooted deep within you. You are important and needed. It is time to partner with God as a mighty army to see his kingdom advance in this nation and beyond to the whole world.

We will also see kingdom advancement locally, in Leicester, in Woodgate and in the areas where we live.  Transformation always begins with transforming individuals. God is changing you from the inside out.  God wants to show you his goodness so that others will see it, at home, work or wherever we are.  “May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen”. (Hebrews 13: 20-21)

Jesus changed people by meeting them at their point of felt need and then, through interaction with them he introduced their real need which was Jesus himself.  In the feeding of the five thousand Jesus said, “I am the bread of life, he who comes to me will never go hungry” (John 6:35).  When the blind man was healed Jesus declared, “I am the light of the world” (John 8:12).  When Lazarus was raised from the dead Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25).

Jesus spent time with his heavenly father and then came to minister to people, full of grace and truth. You are needed to be a transforming agent in the world. People are always attracted to light. When you shine people who are in darkness cannot help being drawn to your light, “You are the light of the world….let your light so shine before men that they may see your good deeds and praise your father in Heaven” (Matthew 5: 14,16).  We are also to be salt. Salt stops corruption, it is a preservative and adds flavour to the world.  “You are the salt of the earth” (Matthew 5:13). The salt must retain its saltiness and the light must be allowed to shine.

We need to be energised by first immersing ourselves in the presence of Jesus and the Holy Spirit and then to go out into the world.  Locally we are to partner with other agencies and charities, to be Jesus in our different environments.  You are a life carrier and you change the atmosphere wherever you go, ultimately you are a world changer!
