David: Staying True to God!

Remember our top tips for making this work: see more here.

Let’s discover more about David as he journeyed from Shepherd to King!

Our aim today is to learn how to stay true to God through the ups and downs of life!

PROFESSOR BUBBLEPUFF

Will Professor Bubble puff have experience scientific success this week?

WORSHIP (8 MINS)

Let’s celebrate Jesus!

INTRO (15 MINS)

Watch: God’s People David (1.5 mins)

Read:
Jesus calling Bible p104
Jesus Storybook p130
Check out these key verses in the bible: 2 Samuel 5:1-5, Psalm 23, Psalm 51

QUICK UNPACK: (2-5 MINS) KEEP IT SIMPLE FOR YOUNGER ONES.

David is finally the King! But being a King was super hard work!
Enemies came to fight him, there were lots of people to care for, he made some bad choices and people got hurt… But he also had some incredible victories and wonderful times with God.
So how did he stay true to God through everything?
Well, one thing David had always been totally brilliant at, even when he was a shepherd boy, was spending time with God.

  • He would praise and worship him
  • He would be honest and tell him his feelings and worries
  • He would make time to be in his presence

He knew that praising and worshipping God would help him stay true to him, no matter what.

FUN ACTIVITIES (5-15 MINS)

Download this week’s activity sheets here

Games:

  • Musical Thrones: arrange some cushions/blankets (one for each family member) on the floor and say these are our thrones! Play some music and choose how everyone can move (hopping, jumping, skipping). Stop the music and shout ‘thrones’ or ‘kings & queens’. Everyone has to sit down on a cushion! Last one sitting gets to do the music or shout out the instructions. Or you can take one cushion away and have someone out. Make it work for your family and have fun together!
  • Speedy Praises! Pass something special around your family. When you are holding it, it’s your turn to praise God for something, then hand it on. Keep passing it round, no repetitions, or hesitations! How many times round your family can you go? How fast can you pass it? Collect your praises to God!

Create:

  • A crown: Use the template or create your own. Decorate with stickers, gems, the symbols on the template, and ideas you have to stay true to God. Share how you stay true to God with your child.
  • Your own Psalm! Let’s be honest with God. He loves us so much, we can tell him how we feel! If you have a journal or Adventure Book, use it to write out what you want to say to God. Such as who he is, who you are, how you feel, what he is saying or showing you about it… Check out some Psalms to help you!

BIBLE BITE: 1 Samuel 16:7 ‘God does not see the same way people see. People look at the outside of a person, but the Lord looks at the heart.’ Who can say it from memory?

Resources: Pdf template, scissors, pens, glue/tape, stickers/gems, paper and card

PRAYER IDEAS: (5-10 MINS)

  • Be Crowned! Did you know God sees us as Kings and Queens? Put on your crowns and pray for each other to know how God sees you, speak out anything Holy Spirit shows you or any encouragements.
  • Be Honest: Let’s tell God how we feel… Let’s ask God to be with us and to fill us with his loving presence now…  Let’s wait and see what Holy Spirit wants to do…  Wait to see what God is saying or showing you… Why not add these things to your Psalm?

WHAT’S THE GAME CHANGING MOMENT

I can stay true to God by spending time with him!

David: Be Strong in the Lord!

Remember our top tips for making this work: see more here.

Let’s find out more about David’s journey from Shepherd to King!

Our aim today is to know that we can seek God ourselves and gain strength from him.

PROFESSOR BUBBLEPUFF

Let’s start with some fun from the Professor!

MARK THE MOMENT

Take it in turns to share two things you are thankful for!

WORSHIP (8 MINS)

Let’s celebrate God’s love for us today!

INTRO (15 MINS)

Watch:
A reading of 1 Samuel 30 with illustrations (4.5 mins, watch below!)

Read the Bible: 1 Samuel 30:1-25

Re-tell the main parts of the story to a younger child. Help your older child to find it and look at it together.

QUICK UNPACK: (2-5 MINS) KEEP IT SIMPLE FOR YOUNGER ONES.

David was still hiding from King Saul, and now his family had been taken and all his men were super mad with him! It seemed like everything was going wrong.
BUT David didn’t give up, he didn’t despair, he didn’t panic…
He found strength in God and he saw God do amazing things – their families were rescued and David grew stronger in kindness and wisdom!

Share any ways you find strength in God during tough times with your child!

FUN ACTIVITIES (5-15 MINS)

Download this week’s activity sheets here

Strength games! It’s fun and great to be strong in our bodies, but it’s even better to be strong in the Lord!

  • Who can carry the most books or toys across the room?
  • Who can do the most press ups, squats or sit ups in 30 seconds?
  • Who can hold a plank or stand on one leg the longest?
  • Who can hold their breath for 20 seconds?
  • Who can say the BIBLE BITE the quickest? 1 Samuel 16:7 ‘God does not see the same way people see. People look at the outside of a person, but the Lord looks at the heart.’
  • Or have a family arm wrestling contest!

Create:
Get strong in the Lord ‘weights’:

  • Use the template; decorate and cut out two card circles. You could decorate with patterns, 1 Samuel 30:6, and ideas of what it means to find strength in God: trust in God, be filled with Holy Spirit, spend time with Jesus, pray in tongues, ask God for help, read bible…
  • Make holes in the centre of each circle. Then either use a straw (if you have any), or roll a piece of card up tightly to stick through the middle of each circle to make it into a dumbbell weight. Fold then ends over and secure with tape.

Just as a weight lifter practices lifting their weights to get stronger, we need to keep practicing trusting God, asking for help, praying, listening to him, being filled with his love… to get stronger in him.

Reach out: We can help others be strong too! Do you know someone who is in need of God’s strength and help? You could make them a card or bookmark of a bible verse that helps you stay strong in God, to encourage and inspire them! Don’t forget to pray for them too!

Resources: Pdf template, scissors, pens, glue/tape, paper and card, straws,

PRAYER IDEAS: (5-10 MINS)

  • Let’s get strong: lift your ‘weights’ and remind your child that God has promised to always be with us: Deuteronomy 31:6. We can always ask him for help and strength. Is there anything you need to see God’s help and strength in? Pray together about these things and seek God’s strength and ideas!
  • Speak it out: make up some declarations to say together whilst lifting your ‘weights’, such as ‘I am strong in the Lord!’, ‘Nothing is impossible with God’s strength’, ‘God is always with me!’, ‘There is a way forward’, ‘I can help others find God’s strength’…

WHAT’S THE GAME CHANGING MOMENT

I can be strong in the Lord, no matter what happens!

SHARE

Share your art with us. Show us your weights, or bible verses. How does it feel to be strong in the Lord?

QUICK UNPACK: (2-5 MINS) KEEP IT SIMPLE FOR YOUNGER ONES.

God had chosen David because of his heart for him not how he looked on the outside.
Even though he was young and overlooked by his big brothers and even his dad, David was chosen by God! God had BIG plans for him…
Did you know that God chooses you too. He sees your heart and your hopes and dreams.

Help your older child to see that they don’t have to prove themselves or vie for attention or approval because they already have God’s: His opinion is what really counts!

We can learn to treat others like God does, by asking him to help us see them like he does.

FUN ACTIVITIES (5-15 MINS)

Download this week’s activity sheets here

Guessing Games:
Choose someone to be and take it in turns to do actions for the rest of your family to guess who or what you are!
Some ideas: a bible dude, an animal, a member of your family, a favourite TV character or act out a film/book/bible story/TV programme without making a sound!

TV Interview:
Everyone could choose to be one of the characters from the bible story: a news reporter/interviewer, Samuel, Jesse (the dad), the big brothers, David…
Either be on location at Jesse’s farm or in a ‘studio’, have a pretend microphone, and interview different characters for the local news!
Describe what happened to you? How did you feel? What will you do now?

Create: use the template to make a magnifying glass and write on 1 Samuel 16:7.
Decorate with patterns, stickers and the things God sees in them, or what is important to God such as love, joy, kindness, hope, peacemaker, humility, being open hearted, worshipping him, caring, bravery, forgiveness… You can stick the heart on using sellotape strips and then trim any edges.

In my heart: Either use the template or draw your own heart. Chat about what you see in each other and write these things inside your heart. Or do now for your whole family and stick it up so everyone can see it. Keep adding to it as God shows you more of who you are in his eyes.

BIBLE BITE:
Can you learn this super important Bible verse?
1 Samuel 16:7 ‘God does not see the same way people see. People look at the outside of a person, but the Lord looks at the heart.’
Find different ways to learn it – say it in silly voices, make it into a rap with actions, write it out in your Adventure Book, find it in your bible and bookmark it, stick it on the fridge…
Challenge each other throughout the week – do you know it yet?

Colouring sheets

Resources: Pdf template, pens, paper/card, glue

PRAYER IDEAS: (5-10 MINS)

It’s an inside job. Pray and speak truth over each other: Have a go at praying and listening to God for each other: ‘Thank you God that you’re always speaking to us and showing us what you think. Help us to hear, see and sense what’s on your heart for __________ now’
Some ideas: how does God sees their heart, what does he love about them, what bible dude are they like, what colour or object does he wants to show you for them…
Share with each other, jot in Adventure Books and pray for them to really know these things! God sees our hearts!

WHAT’S THE GAME CHANGING MOMENT

Decide on poses for the heroes we have done:

Naomi, Ruth, Jacob, Joshua, Gideon, Samuel, Isaiah, Shadrach & Co, Nehemiah, Jonah, Esther

Have extra ones for favourite superheroes such as Spiderman, Disney Princesses, Captain America, Wonder Woman, Batman, Iron Man…

Play: Hero Card Games.

Print out a few sets of the hero cards from the pdf template and cut them up. Then choose a game to play or make up your own. You could hide them around your house for younger children to find.

  • Pairs – Using 2 or 4 sets of the cards, turn all the card upside down and spread them out, take it in turns to turn two over at a time. When you get a matching pair you can keep them and have another go. If they don’t match try to remember where they are for your next go!
  • Snap – Using 2 or more sets, share out the cards between players, hold them upside down, take it in turns to put one down on a pile hero side up, shout out ‘snap!’ when there are two the same and keep all the cards in the pile. Keep going until someone ends up with all the cards!
  • Top Trumps – Add skills to your heroes on the back of the card. Choose three or four such as: courage, friendship, obedience, strength, kindness, perseverance… Give them a score out of 10. Share the cards out then challenge each other to see who has the highest score. Keep all the cards if you have the highest score!

Create:

  • Make your own mini superhero using the templates.
  • Either use the oval shape as a head and the triangle shape as a cape to add to a straw or craft stick using tape. Choose one of the other shapes to be a logo and stick on the front. Decorate faces, stick on wool or string for hair, draw on a mask or helmet… (see ideas)
  • Or choose a figure to add the triangle to as a cape and a shape for a logo. Have fun creating your own hero or recreating your favourite superhero.

Resources: Pdf templates, scissors, pens, glue, paper and card, craft sticks or straws, tape

PRAYER IDEAS: (5-10 MINS)

  • Adventure Time: Get comfy and ask Jesus to show you how he sees you as his hero! What does he show you? What does he say? What do you see, hear, sense? Give time to be with him and share what you were thinking about. Draw or write about it in your Adventure Book.
  • Declare together: ‘I am a hero to God. I can live my life to have a massive impact on others for him! My life will change the world!’ Why not come up with your own declarations about your favourite hero and how they have inspired you.
  • Prayer pebbles: Challenge each person in your family to choose a pebble that is important to them and pray together. Encourage confidence to pray and celebrate all progress your child makes in this area. Their prayers are super powerful!

Old Testament Heroes: Nehemiah

PARENTS! Remember to check out our top tips for making this work!

Let’s go back in time to find out more about those Old Testament Heroes!

Our aim today is to learn that heroes keep going and don’t give up because God is with us!

Before we get started, we’re back in Pecky’s World again!

MARK THE MOMENT

It’s Father’s Day today! You could start off your time together by giving your dad a big hug and telling him two things to encourage him or be thankful for someone else in your life who cares for you, like a grandpa or uncle.

WORSHIP (8 MINS)

Let’s be thankful for our amazing Daddy God in heaven who always loves us!

INTRO (11 MINS)

EXPLORE MORE ABOUT NEHEMIAH (5 MINS)

You can read some more about them here:

UNPACK (2-5 MINS)

  • Nehemiah did not give up, even when faced with a huge task and lots of problems and opposition: he was teased, mocked, criticised, lied about, and threatened! He and his team managed to complete the wall in 52 days!
  • WOW! How did he keep going? What do you think?
  • Some thoughts: He was honest about his feelings and then he prayed. He knew God was bigger than the problem. He knew he’d been chosen by God. He got help and found solutions to problems. He prayed for strength and put his focus on God not on the threats and lies coming his way…

Go Deeper:

  • What do we do when we face a problem or difficulty? Give some scenarios that relate to your child’s and your life and be honest about ways we may respond to it.
  • Sometimes we may moan or complain, or we may feel defeated and afraid, or even angry.
  • BUT we can also be honest about our feelings, ask for help, pray, remember how big God is, spend time with Jesus, read the bible, encourage someone else, take a break, have another go…
  • What helps you to overcome and not give up when problems come your way?

FUN ACTIVITIES (5-15 MINS)

Download this week’s activity sheets here.

Use any of the pdf templates!

Be ready: Make an I WILL NOT GIVE UP plan of action! Come up with two or three ideas on what to do when you feel like giving up. Create a mini poster, door hanger or note for the fridge to remind you of your plan!

Or make an acrostic for the letters DO NOT GIVE UP or I AM A HERO to encourage yourself or someone else. Acrostic = Use each first letter of the words in your chosen phrase as the start of an encouraging sentence.

E.G:

Do have another go
Open up to God
Never give up
One more try
Tell someone you need help

Or use the brick wall template to colour in, decorate, write on what God thinks of you or what you think of God…

Building Fun: Use lego or bricks to create strong walls together. You could put holes in the wall for your child to fix or play out the story with a younger child.

Challenge your older child to get messy and use marshmallows and pasta/spaghetti to make towers.. Or can they use a single sheet of paper, sellotape and scissors to construct something strong? You could have competitions or team work and test for appearance, durability, strength and more!

Continue your own TIMELINE OF WONDER: Here’s Nehemiah to add to your timeline! Where does he go? Have you added anything else on too? We’d love to see a photo of your timeline so far!

Create something to encourage your Dad or someone else close to you; like a piece of art, handprint, poem, rap, or simply a cup of tea and some chocolate!

Resources: PDF templates, scissors, selotape, pens, glue, paper and card, bricks/lego, toys, spaghetti/pasta, marshmallows.

PRAYER IDEAS: (5-10 MINS)

  • Prayer pebbles: Choose one of your pebbles to be a NEVER GIVE UP! pebble. Does anyone feel like giving up about something? Let them hold the pebble whilst everyone else prays for them: ask God for strength, peace and solutions. Remember to share anything you feel Holy Spirit is showing you.
  • Testimonies: Share any times you’ve had victory over problems with each other. Celebrate and thank God for these times. Do you know anyone in another family you could encourage with your stories and offer to pray for?
  • Be the answer: We believe that Jesus has answers and a way forward for the problems we see in the world around us. He wants to team up with us to be part of the solution because we are his heroes! You could spend time chatting about problems your children can see in the world, then listen to God’s answers/thoughts (often what pops into our heads first). Then pray and speak out these things: Be creative and be bold to do what the Holy Spirit shows you!

TODAY’S GAME CHANGING MOMENT

I am a hero who doesn’t give up because God is with me!

SHARE

Share your brick walls and constructions with us. What testimonies of victories do you have?

Old Testament Heroes: Jonah

PARENTS! Remember to check out our top tips for making this work!

Let’s go back in time to find out more about those Old Testament Heroes!

Our aim today is to learn that God loves to give his heroes a second chance.

MARK THE MOMENT

Start off your time together in a special way: See how many of the Old Testament Heroes you can remember. Either go round your family saying one each, no repetitions or hesitations allowed, or say them as quickly as possible without getting muddled. Use your timeline to help!

WORSHIP (8 MINS)

Welcome Jesus to be with you as you celebrate being his heroes!

INTRO (8 MINS)

EXPLORE MORE ABOUT JONAH (5 MINS)

You can read some more about them here:

  • Find in a children’s bible:
  • The Lion First bible p264
  • Jesus Calling Bible p114
  • Jesus Storybook bible p160
  • Or check it out in the bible: Jonah’s Story

UNPACK (2-5 MINS)

  • Even though Jonah ran away from God and even though the people of Nineveh (God’s people’s enemies!) were doing awful things, God still loved them and gave them a second chance!
  • God is still the same today: he loves to gives us a second chance, no matter what mistakes we’ve made, he forgives us and helps us so we can try again! WOW! This is such good news.

FUN ACTIVITIES (5-15 MINS)

Download this week’s activity sheets here.

Game: Play hide and seek. Jonah thought he could hide from God – oops! Even when we are hiding, God can still see us and find us because he loves us so much. When you find someone you could say: ‘God sees you and loves you!’ Who is good at hiding in your family? What’s your best hiding place?

Play: use any sea life puppets, toys, boats and little people you may have to play the story of Jonah.

Peg whale craft: Use the pdf templates to decorate Jonah and the fish first, then cut out all the pieces. Stick the Jonah figure on the inside of the bottom lip of the whale, and then use sellotape to attach the peg to each part of the whale so it opens its mouth when the peg is squeezed, and Jonah can be seen. The sellotape part is a bit fiddly: try inserting the tape while the peg is open, position the fish and wrap the tape around it, repeat for other half of fish. See example on the pdf.

Fish tissue paper outline: choose a fish outline from the pdf attachment and print out on card, then cut out the fish so you have a fish-shaped gap! Stick strips of sellotape across the gap and fill up with tissue paper or any coloured paper you may have and then add on Jonah. See example on the pdf.

Continue your own TIMELINE OF WONDER: Here’s Jonah to add to your timeline! Where does he go? Have you added anything else on too? We’d love to see a photo of your timeline so far!

Resources: Pdf templates, scissors, pens, glue, paper and card, sellotape, pegs

PRAYER IDEAS: (5-10 MINS)

  • God always give us a second chance! Be honest and share what happens when we make mistakes? Do we get stuck feeling guilty and condemned or do we listen to the lies of the enemy? Or can we remember that God is kind; he forgives us and wants us to know his love and power to try again? Help your child to think about this and pray for them to really know God’s forgiveness for any mistakes they’ve made and his power to have another go! Listen in to Holy Spirit and share what he’s showing you as you pray together.  You may need to speak God’s forgiveness over each other.
  • Adventure Time: Let’s use our imaginations to meet with Jesus! Get comfy and invite Holy Spirit to be with you. Imagine you’re going swimming with Jonah and Jesus. Dive down into the sea with them. What do you see… or hear… or sense? What does Jesus want you to know about Jonah’s story? …What is he showing you about his heart for you and others? …Spend time with him and then share your Adventure Times with each other. Don’t forget to write or draw about them!
  • Prayer pebbles:  Which prayer pebble will you choose to help you pray? Is there anyone you need to forgive and give a second chance to? Is there anyone Jesus is showing you who you could pray for? Encourage each other to pray with confidence knowing that God hears our prayers!

TODAY’S GAME CHANGING MOMENT

God loves to give me a second chance.
He is kind to me and forgives me.

Old Testament Heroes: Esther

PARENTS! Remember to check out our top tips for making this work!

Before anything else here’s a little visit to Pecky’s World…

Let’s go back in time to find out more about those Old Testament Heroes!

Our aim today is to learn that I can be brave with God’s help. He has perfectly positioned me as his hero to stand up for truth.

MARK THE MOMENT

Start off your time together in a special way: choose someone in your family, look them in the eye and tell them that they are God’s incredible hero and he is super proud of them!

WORSHIP (8 MINS)

Thank Father God that he is always with us and celebrate his love for you.

INTRO (12 MINS)

EXPLORE MORE ABOUT ESTHER (5 MINS)

You can read some more about her here:

  • Find in a children’s bible:
  • Jesus Calling Bible p132
  • The Story Travellers Bible p166

UNPACK (2-5 MINS)

  • Esther had been perfectly positioned as Queen to speak up for those in trouble and many lives were saved.
  • She needed courage to stand up for what was right and true.
  • She needed others to pray for and support her as she took her step of faith to speak out.

Questions to go deeper:

  • What could have happened to God’s people if Esther had refused to speak to the King?
  • How do you think she felt going to see him? Remember, it could have cost her life!
  • What do you think helped her take a stand for her people?
  • Has anyone ever stood up for you when you needed it? How did that feel?
  • Who could you speak up for? Or who could you pray for and support as they take a stand for what is right and true?

FUN ACTIVITIES (5-15 MINS)

Download this week’s activity sheets here.

Continue your own TIMELINE OF WONDER: Here’s Esther to add to your timeline! Where does she go? Your TIMELINE is now complete! Keep hold of it for next week’s final heroes session!

Create: Courage crowns.
Create your own crown using card, stickers, pens and scissors.

  • Either use one of the templates, or create your own design by cutting up A4 card in a zig-zag way and sticking together so it goes around your head.
  • Decorate with ‘Esther was brave’ ‘I am a courageous hero!’ ‘I can stand up for others’ and other truths you’ve learnt today. There are gems you can cut out and use too!
  • Then have a coronation time; make a simple throne with material draped over a chair and crown each other as brave heroes standing up for God and others in need!

Brainstorm Bravery!
Can you make a mind map or create some word art using as many words associated with bravery and/or Esther’s story as possible?

  • Collate your ideas together, use special pens, write words in different directions or in a variety of shapes and styles…
  • Some suggestions: bravery, courage, daring, heroism, fearlessness, grit, valour, honour… in the shape of a crown or heart
  • (if you’re stuck search ‘word art’ on google images for inspiration!)

Resources: Pdf templates, scissors, pens, stickers, glue, stapler/tape, paper and card

PRAYER IDEAS: (5-10 MINS)

  • Ask and receive: Where has God positioned us so we can be brave and courageous for him? Where is God asking me or our family to step out in courage with him or to make a stand for truth? Who could we support or encourage? Pray in response to these thoughts – speak courage and faith over one another that God is with us and for us, we are perfectly positioned and we always have his superpower of love…
  • Prayer pebbles: Do you have a ‘thankfulness’ pebble? Use it to be thankful to God for anyone who has encouraged, supported and helped you. Be thankful too for all those people who are helping others in need now – you could focus on the NHS, or schools, or charities in our city or overseas…

TODAY’S GAME CHANGING MOMENT

I am a hero to God. He has perfectly positioned me to stand up for what is right and true.

NEXT WEEK

We’ll be having a superhero party during Game Changers At Home to celebrate finishing our Old Testament Hero theme!

Why not dress up as your favourite hero or wear your hero mask or cape!

SHARE

Share your creativity with us! We’d love to know about your favourite heroes or when you’ve stood up for what was right and true!

  • healing sick bodies
  • filling empty hearts
  • freeing confused minds…

Game!

  • Choose a favourite game like Simon Says or Sleeping Lions or Musical Statues and play a couple times, then change one element of the game such as you do the opposite of what Simon Says or you can roll around for Sleeping Lions or you stand on one leg for Musical Statues!
  • Have fun taking it in turns to make up new ‘rules’ to the change the game!

Create: your own transformational scratch art.

  • You will need wax crayons or pastels
  • Use bright crayons to cover a piece of paper, then colour over completely with black crayon/pastel or alternatively use black poster paint (but you’ll have to wait for it to dry)
  • Then grab an empty ball point pen, cocktail stick, or pencil and scratch a design/pattern/truth/bible verse on the black and watch the rainbow of colours be revealed from underneath!

Create: Rainbows and Sunshine

  • Then stick the coloured strips along one edge of the cloud or add the sun ‘rays’ around the ‘sun’.

BIBLE BITE: Can you begin to learn Colossians 1:13? What actions could you do to help you? Could you say it in silly voices or sing it or copy each other?

Fill the jars. Decide on 2 teams. Give each team a container (‘jar’) to put at one end of the room or garden. Decide on objects to fill your jar such as bricks, plastic balls, dried pasta… and have these at the other end of the room. Each team member takes it in turns to carry as many objects as they can to fill their jar. The first team to fill it wins! Or time each person to see who can fill the jar the quickest rather than racing.

Wedding Musical Statues. Pretend to be at the wedding party. Put some music on and dance around until it stops or shout ‘water into wine’. Who can stand still without laughing or moving?

Create:

A spin-it water into wine craft using the pdf template and instructions

Or draw the scene of Jesus, Mary and the guests at the wedding with flip-over jars to add to the scene. Cut out some of the jars from the template and colour one side blue, the other side red. Then Sellotape down one side so you can flip it over to change from water into wine! You could draw puzzled, surprised, happy… expressions on the wedding guests too.

Resources: Pdf template, scissors, pens, glue/tape, paper and card, split pin/string

PRAYER IDEAS: (5-10 MINS)

  • Adventure Time: Get comfy and invite Holy Spirit to be with you. Why not imagine being at the wedding party with Jesus. What do you see, hear, smell, taste? What is Jesus doing? Guessing games:

‘Squeak Piggy Squeak’ (you’ll need 3 or more people!) Have one person blindfolded or with their eyes closed, holding up their thumbs. Choose another member of the family to gently squeeze their thumbs and say ‘squeak piggy squeak’ in a silly voice. Can they guess who it is? Take turns.

The bear and honey pot: have one person blindfolded with a bunch of keys in front of them. Can another member of the family creep up and get the keys without being heard and pointed at?

Create:

A cartoon style comic of the key events in story. Use the template or design your own. Which are the main events of the story? How did Jairus feel? What about the poor woman? Why did the crowd laugh? Chat as you create.

Wristband: Use the template to create a ‘Jesus heals’ wristband. Choose a plaster to colour in or decorate and cut out. Then stick onto one of the strips and cut to make it the correct length for your wrist, secure with tape.

Freeze-Frame: this is a snapshot in time where everyone stands absolutely still and their stance and expressions tell the story of what is going on.
Choose one part of the story: Who is there? How do they feel? What are they doing? What would they look like? Each person decides who they are and what they’re doing then shout FREEZE! Take a photo and send to us!
